Central Michigan University veterans' education records, 1946-1956.

Records for veterans who attended Central Michigan University (CMU), 1946-1956 with surnames beginning with the letter "D" through the letters "McK". The rest of the alphebetical listing is missing. For each veteran there is a typed form of his/her charges at Grover's Central Supply Company (Mount Pleasant, Mich.), which is where CMU students bought their books and supplies, including the date of the term, the veteran's name and address, types and costs of books and supplies that they were allowed for various classes, and the total cost of supplies they purchased. Stapled to each sheet is a 3"x5" card entitled "Veterans Eligibility-Central Michigan College of Education" (form 105b-2). The card is a form with the following information filled in by hand: name, address, and student identification number of the veteran; which branch of the U.S. Armed Forces the veteran served in; the service identification number, marital status, and number of children, if any, of the veteran; if the veteran was eligible to attend CMU under Public Law 346 (GI Bill) or 16 (GI Rehabilitation); the dates the semester began and ended; curriculum studied and total credits of Physical Education taken by the veteran; if the veteran had registered under the GI Bill; and the dated signature of the Dean of Men. Some cards have also been stamped with names of administrators and the word "accepted". Part of the collection includes Master (Book) Lists for Veterans. For each term, this includes a set of typed forms in alphabetical order by the name of each CMU department. On the page/s for each department are listed the courses offered that term, in order by course number. Pages with changes in course lists, correspondence between people in various CMU departments or between Grover's and N.C. Bovee, then CMU's Business Manager, and some lists of eligible veterans are included. The papers of two women, Violet Flower, 1950-1951, and Lillian Wiltse McDougald, 1951, are included. Additional papers of Hans Lantzsch and records of N.C. Bovee, are also housed in the Clarke.
